geoFlock: geotagging

The extension provides an integrated solution to both upload and geotag your flickr photos, using the Flock Photo Uploader, and/or geotag your blog posts.

Flickr have released location functionality to their site and this extension is designed to complement this. Important! At present only geotags are added, to have your photos show up on the flickr map in your flickr organizer, you will have to go to http://flickr.com/account/geo/import which will automatically transfer the photos to the map everytime after uploading is complete. Personally I would just do this once a week or so, depending on how many photos I upload.

- Geotag Dialog button: Click on this button in yourphoto uploader to begin the geotagging process; See geotag dialog help below.

- Quicktag: Click on this button to insert the lastused geotags, stored even on shutdown.

The Photo Geotag Dialog:

The dialog will open at your map home, with the address list populated. If this is the first time you are usig the extension, no locations will be available.

Navigate the map, add locations, etc, when you are happy that the map centre is where the photos were taken, click the geotag button.

This will insert the three properly formated geotags (geotagged, geo:lat, geo:lon) as well as a link to view where the photo was taken (using google maps) in the photo description.

To geotag multiple photos with the same tags, select all the photos in the photo uploader topbar that you wish to geotag, tick the checkbox next to the tagbox and description box, then open the geotag dialog.

Saving the map: there is an option to save the map as a PNG image by clicking on the 'Save Map As' button. Get your map set up how you want it to appear, click Save Map As, select a suitable location and voila.

You will need Java Runtime Environment 1.4 or above to save map images.

The extension integrates geoblogging into your blog editor. You can geotag your blog posts, add google maps/google earth links, insert microformat geo classes and also insert a quikmaps.com map.

- Click this button to toggle the drop down menu. The menu currently has two options, (1) Open Geotag dialog, and (2) Open quikmaps dialog.

- Click on this button to toggle the drop down menu. The menu currently has two options, (1) use last used geotags, which are stored locally even on pc shutdown and (2) insert last used quikmap, again this is stored even on shutdown.
